Eat, play & love at Rockox
On april 1, 2018 by GwenPhotos by Gwendolina Willems (artexplorer.be)
2018 is the year of Peter Paul Rubens! Antwerp will be one big Barok scene with a lot of international exhibitions in RubensHouse, MAS, Middelheimmuseum, Plantin-Moretusmuseum, FOMU, MuHKA and off course The renovated Snijders & Rockox House.
On a rainy evening in March I was invited to a nocturne in the former residence of Mr. Rockox & Mr. Snijders in the heart of Antwerp. While the darkness found its way into the museum, the place turned into a magical feast for the senses. The instruments seemed to float in the music room and I could here the monkeys laughing whilst playing cards.
I could almost smell the strawberries and feel the tension between the sweethearts. I imagined hearing the chirping birds and feeling the piercing eyes of the distinguished Nicolaas Rockox.
And it’s getting even better! In September the culinary photographer Tony LeDuc will be enchanting our eyes with new works which will be presented along these still lifes.
Let me treat you to some of these delicacies already, but don’t hesitate to bring a visit to Antwerp!

Even op boven vernoemde musea geklikt. “Middelheimmuseum” genoteerd op “to do” list, misschien ook “FOMU” maar … of ik mijn huisgenoten kan overtuigen. In elk geval “EAT” in Antwerp zal wel lukken! Dank u voor de suggesties!
